Role Overview:
The Import Operations Executive will be responsible for managing end-to-end import operations,
ensuring timely customs clearance, regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and seamless coordination
with multiple stakeholders to support uninterrupted domestic sales operations.
Key Responsibilities:
● Manage end-to-end import operations including shipment planning, tracking, and customs
clearance to ensure uninterrupted supply for domestic sales.
● Handle high-volume and high-value import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB,
COO, insurance, and regulatory certificates with high accuracy.
● Ensure compliance with customs regulations, DGFT requirements, and other applicable import laws
to mitigate duty and compliance risks.
● Monitor and control risks related to customs duty, demurrage, detention, delays, and pilferage.
● Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, warehouses, overseas
suppliers, and internal teams (finance, sales, planning).
● Negotiate with CHAs, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to achieve cost savings through
optimized freight rates, reduced demurrage/detention, and faster clearance.
● Track shipment timelines proactively and resolve operational issues to avoid delays and additional
costs.
● Prepare and maintain import MIS, cost reports, and documentation records for audits and
management review.
● Support process improvements to enhance clearance speed, cost efficiency, and compliance
accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
● 2-3 years of experience in import operations, customs clearance, or international logistics.
● Strong knowledge of import documentation, customs procedures, HS classification, and duty
structures.
● Experience managing high-value shipments with exposure to cost and risk control.
● Proven ability to coordinate with multiple external and internal stakeholders.
● Strong negotiation skills for freight, clearance, and logistics cost optimization.
● High attention to detail with strong compliance and risk-management orientation.
● Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
● Working knowledge of ERP/SAP or logistics management systems preferred.
